UEFA blames $55 million revenue slump on weakening U.S. dollar

UEFA has attributed a substantial revenue shortfall to macroeconomic factors, reporting a roughly $55 million loss linked directly to a “sharp drop” in the value of the U.S. dollar.

The governing body revealed that the dollar’s 9% decline against major global currencies last year resulted in foreign exchange losses totaling approximately €47 million (~$54.5 million).

These currency-driven deficits nearly equaled UEFA’s total net loss for the 2024–25 season, forcing the organization to utilize its financial reserves to stabilize the accounts.

Despite the significant impact of these “significant foreign exchange” fluctuations, UEFA continues to lean on its accumulated capital to bridge the gap caused by the volatile international market.
