Manchester City face a stern test away at Villarreal on Tuesday (October 21) as they continue their Champions League campaign at the Estadi de la Ceràmica.
The English side are boosted by the sensational form of striker Erling Haaland, who has scored 12 goals in his last eight club games, but they remain without injured midfield anchor Rodri.
Villarreal, led by coach Marcelino, are winless in their last three outings but boast an unbeaten home record this season, creating a potential ‘fortress’ atmosphere.
Marcelino acknowledged the challenge, stating: “We expect it to be very difficult, just like against Juventus… Now we have to enjoy it and suffer through it.”
Pep Guardiola’s side is predicted to secure a 3-1 victory, though the manager anticipates a recognizable opponent: “When you see a Marcelino team without knowing that Marcelino is on the bench, you recognise his style of play.”
The hosts are hampered by defensive injuries to Juan Foyth and others, while City may rotate, bringing in John Stones and Josko Gvardiol.
