Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga fixture against SC Freiburg after sustaining an ankle injury on international duty, leaving his availability for the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid in doubt.
Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Harry Kane is unavailable for Bayern Munich’s trip to SC Freiburg. The England captain returned from international duty with an ankle “twinge” after training last Sunday.
Expressing his disappointment on Friday, Kompany remarked: “It’s not ideal. I would have liked him to be there, but as things stand, that’s not possible.”
Despite the setback, Kompany remains “still optimistic” that his star forward could recover in time for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.
While Kane is sidelined, Bayern received a fitness boost as Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala, and Alphonso Davies have all been passed fit. Kompany noted: “Apart from that, his squad is pretty much as it needs to be.”
