Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany will delay a final decision on Harry Kane’s fitness until matchday ahead of tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Vincent Kompany remains hopeful that star striker Harry Kane can overcome an ankle injury to start Tuesday’s high-stakes clash in Madrid.
Kane, who has netted 48 goals this season, trained on Monday after missing the weekend’s Bundesliga victory.
Kompany emphasized the striker’s importance, stating, “We have to wait for tomorrow to get the final information and then we make the decision accordingly.”
Labeling the Bernabéu visit the “toughest” away game in Europe, Kompany highlighted the need for tactical perfection against the 15-time winners.
Despite Madrid’s history of eliminating Bayern, the Belgian coach is buoyed by a nearly full-strength traveling squad.
“I think it’s still always the right thing to have a discussion with each player to make sure that you get the thumbs up,” Kompany added.
