West Ham 0-2 Brentford: Brentford earn their first away win of the season

Brentford claimed their first away win of the season, beating West Ham 2–0 in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first home match as Hammers boss.

Brentford spoiled Nuno Espirito Santo’s first home match as West Ham boss with a dominant 2–0 victory at London Stadium on Monday night.

Igor Thiago opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after West Ham failed to clear a long ball, his fifth goal of the season just squeezing past Alphonse Areola. Mathias Jensen sealed the win in stoppage time, firing into the roof of the net to cap Brentford’s best away performance of the campaign.

The visitors were superior throughout, registering 22 shots and 58% possession, while the Hammers managed only one shot on target. Schade struck the bar and Thiago saw another goal ruled out for offside after semi-automated offside technology failed due to a global outage.

Jordan Henderson impressed in midfield as Brentford climbed to 13th in the Premier League, securing Keith Andrews’ first away win as manager.

Meanwhile, West Ham fans booed their team off, with protests against chairman David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady continuing. Nuno’s side have now lost all four home league games and remain 19th, deep in relegation trouble.
