Sadio Mané secured Senegal’s place in the Africa Cup of Nations final with a 78th-minute strike to defeat Egypt 1-0 in a tense semifinal clash in Tangier.
Following the victory, Mané offered a heartfelt tribute to his former Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah, describing him as “one of the best players in the world” and acknowledging the immense quality of the Egyptian side.
Senegal is now set to face tournament hosts Morocco in Sunday’s final, with Mané reflecting on the difficult journey by stating: “I pay tribute to Egypt of course and as I always said, Egypt is for me the best ever team in Africa.”
Despite the exit, Mané praised his rival’s commitment, noting, “Of course he always gives his best for the team, unfortunate for him today as well. I just want to say this is part of football.”
