Barcelona celebrated International Down Syndrome Day during their Champions League victory over Newcastle by wearing special jerseys featuring a custom font designed by renowned artist Anna Vives.
Barcelona’s dominant 8–3 aggregate victory over Newcastle United was marked by a significant aesthetic change to their Champions League kits.
The Catalan giants took to the pitch at the Spotify Camp Nou wearing names and numbers in a unique font.
This stylistic shift was a tribute to International Down Syndrome Day, featuring the creative work of Anna Vives, a celebrated artist with the condition.
The special design brought the hosts fortune as they secured a 7–2 win on the night.
The club previously collaborated with Vives in 2013, but this latest gesture provided a massive global platform for her advocacy.
A club statement explained: “A special jersey with a purpose, honouring International Down Syndrome Day and celebrating the talent of Anna Vives, an incredible artist with Down syndrome.”
