Zidane says he wants to coach France after Deschamps exits in 2026, calling it his dream job.
Zinedine Zidane has declared his desire to manage the French national team, revealing it is his “dream job” as he plans a return to football management.
Speaking at the Trento Sports Festival, the former Real Madrid boss said: “I’d like to be the head coach of the France team one day. I will surely return to coaching. Me at Juventus? I don’t know why it didn’t happen. I always keep that team in my heart because it gave me a lot.”
Zidane, who led Real Madrid to three consecutive Champions League titles and two LaLiga crowns, has been out of management since 2021. He previously stated that he left Madrid because he felt the club had “lost faith” in him.
His comments come as Didier Deschamps prepares to step down after the 2026 World Cup, confirming: “In 2026 it will be over. One has to be able to say stop, there’s a life after this.”
Deschamps has guided France to the 2018 World Cup title and the 2022 final. Zidane, one of France’s greatest football icons, now appears the natural successor.
