Hakimi, Osimhen, Salah, vie for CAF Player of the Year award

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the nominees for the 2025 CAF Player of the Year award, with three of the continent’s biggest stars leading the charge for the prestigious prize.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named among the top contenders for the CAF Player of the Year award. He is joined by two former winners: Egypt and Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah, as well as Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi.

The selection highlights players who excelled in various competitions throughout the past year. Other contenders featured on the expansive list include Cameroonian midfielder Frank Anguissa, Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, and the Senegalese duo Iliman Ndiaye and Pape Matar Sarr.

The full list of nominees, which was announced on Thursday, marks the start of the process to honour the finest football talent.

The award celebrates the continent’s top performers among players, coaches, clubs and national teams.
