Nigeria’s U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, defeated Samoa 4-0 in Rabat to secure a spot in the Round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Nigeria’s Flamingos advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after a dominant 4-0 win over Samoa in Rabat on Saturday.

Queen Joseph struck twice to bring her tally to three goals in the tournament, while Captain Shakirat Moshood converted a penalty and Azeezat Oduntan added a fourth with a spectacular strike from the wing.

After suffering earlier defeats to Canada and France, the Flamingos entered the match needing a big win to keep their campaign alive. They opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Joseph lifted the ball past goalkeeper Grace Ae, before Moshood doubled the lead from the spot in the 27th minute. Joseph added another in the 36th minute following a clever run and cross by Nguemo Terlumun.

Oduntan sealed the victory in the 67th minute, capping a commanding team performance that saw Nigeria control play from start to finish. The result confirmed Nigeria’s place in the knockout stage as they continue their quest for World Cup glory.
