PSG faces a mounting injury crisis with Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all sidelined, casting a shadow over their upcoming fixtures and international commitments.
According to The Athletic and New York Times reporting, Paris Saint-Germain is facing a mounting injury crisis after three key players, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembélé, and Nuno Mendes, were confirmed to be sidelined for several weeks following their 2-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.
The losses compound a season already hindered by fitness issues, preventing manager Luis Enrique from fielding a full-strength squad.
PSG’s medical update on Wednesday confirmed the severity of the setbacks sustained during the fixture. Moroccan international right-back Hakimi, who had been an ever-present for the club, was forced off the pitch in tears shortly before halftime after a reckless challenge.
The club stated: “Achraf Hakimi has severely sprained his left ankle, which will leave him unavailable for several weeks.” The injury has reportedly raised concerns over his participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The defeat also saw Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé substituted early in the first half. His injury is a fresh setback, having recently recovered from a previous hamstring problem.
The official report confirmed: “Ousmane Dembélé has picked up an injury to his left calf and will therefore remain on the treatment table for the next few weeks.”
Adding to the list is Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes, who sustained a sprain to his left knee and will also be out for “the next few weeks.”
The deepening crisis led manager Luis Enrique to urge calm despite the challenges. “I can’t remember a single match with the whole squad fit. It’s a different kind of season, and we have to manage that.
I’m calm and confident we’ll recover our players and our level,” the Spaniard said, underscoring the ongoing battle against injuries that has plagued the team since the start of the campaign.
