Harry Kane’s dramatic injury-time equalizer secured a 2-2 draw for Bayern Munich against 1. FC Union Berlin, ending Bayern’s 16-game winning streak after a fiercely contested match.
According to Bulinews reporting, Bayern Munich’s 16-game winning streak in all competitions was brought to an end after they were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by 1. FC Union Berlin at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei on Saturday.
Harry Kane salvaged a point for the German champions in injury time, ensuring a share of the spoils.
Union broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Danilho Doekhi’s shot from a short corner was spilled into the net by Manuel Neuer.
Bayern, who uncharacteristically struggled to create chances for much of the first half, struck back in the 38th minute when Luis Diaz leveled the score, firing into the top corner from a tight angle.
The second half was just as eventful. Union struck again in the 83rd minute as Doekhi completed his brace, slotting the ball into the net after a cross was inadvertently headed into his path by Kane.
Union defended their hard-fought lead bravely and were close to a major upset, which would have been their first win against Bayern in the Bundesliga.
However, the hosts could not hold out. In the 90th minute, Tom Bischof delivered a cross that allowed Harry Kane to rise and head home the equalizer, rescuing a point and ensuring a 2-2 draw.
The late drama meant Union Berlin were denied a famous victory, though they successfully halted Bayern’s dominant run.
