German prodigy set for Arsenal audition

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are tracking record-breaking Bayern Munich teenager Lennart Karl, who is set for a Champions League audition against the Gunners.

According to reports from German and UK media, Arsenal is intensifying its monitoring of Bayern Munich’s rising star, Lennart Karl, amid the 17-year-old’s explosive introduction to senior European football.

Karl, who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger, recently etched his name into the Bayern history books.

The young German became the club’s youngest-ever Champions League goalscorer, netting in the 5th-minute of a 4-0 win against Club Brugge in October. He broke the record previously held by teammate Jamal Musiala.

Karl’s memorable debut goal was a sensational left-footed finish from 18 meters out, showcasing the composure that has attracted interest from numerous English clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City.

Despite this widespread attention, Bayern Munich is determined to retain the player, who is tied to the club until June 30, 2028. Reports suggest Bayern values the German youth international between a significant £62 million and £70 million.

Following the goal, coach Vincent Kompany expressed a measure of caution about the instant fame: “I’m not a fan of hype, and now he will be getting some of that. I’m a fan of training and calm.”

However, Karl’s confidence matches his talent. Regarding his approach to high-stakes games, the player stated: “I don’t know if I should fear the opponent, but I don’t need to fear the opponent. I need to press ahead and do my thing.”

Arsenal’s interest is reportedly genuine, with the club viewing Karl’s versatility as a perfect fit for their development model.
