IBRAHIMOVIC: ‘RONALDO’S EGO HOLDING PORTUGAL HOSTAGE’ AT WORLD CUP

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has slammed Cristiano Ronaldo, accusing the Portugal captain’s ego of holding the national team hostage despite their progress to the World Cup Round of 16. According to Daily Post, Ibrahimovic made the remarks after Portugal’s dramatic 2-1 win over Croatia, insisting the team cannot win the tournament with a 41-year-old leading the attack.

The Swedish legend argued Ronaldo has lost his mobility and sharpness, saying his reputation now outweighs his performances. He cited substitute Gonçalo Ramos’ stoppage-time winner against Croatia as proof Portugal have capable alternatives, calling the continued preference for Ronaldo “pure nostalgia-driven madness.”

Ibrahimovic urged Portugal to prioritize team unity over individual status ahead of their Round of 16 clash against Spain.
