Manchester City have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo by activating his £65 million release clause in January, with the player reportedly favouring a move to the Premier League champions.
Manchester City have reportedly entered advanced negotiations to sign Bournemouth’s standout winger, Antoine Semenyo, ahead of the January transfer window.
The Ghanaian international has become a primary target for Pep Guardiola, who is looking to bolster his attacking options following a series of impressive performances by the 25-year-old.
Reports indicate that Semenyo’s current contract includes a £65 million release clause, a figure that has alerted several of the Premier League’s top clubs.
While Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea have all expressed significant interest in the forward, sources suggest that Semenyo has already indicated a personal preference for a move to the Etihad Stadium.
The attraction of competing for major silverware under Guardiola is believed to be the deciding factor for the player.
Despite the mounting speculation, no formal agreement has been reached yet, as the release clause only becomes active during the first ten days of January.
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola addressed the rumors during a press conference on Tuesday, expressing his desire to keep the star man at the Vitality Stadium.
“If you ask me, I don’t want to lose him, definitely don’t want to lose him,” Iraola admitted, while acknowledging the reality of the situation.
“But like we always say, every time the market opens, you never know what’s going to happen. It’s beyond my control.”
