Manchester United manager Michael Carrick expects Mason Mount to return shortly, though key defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Patrick Dorgu remain out until spring.
Michael Carrick is hopeful of a midfield boost as Manchester United eye a Champions League spot following four consecutive wins.
Mason Mount is nearing a return after a minor training injury, with Carrick stating: “He’s not too far away. We’re hopeful it won’t be too long.”
Mount could feature against West Ham or Everton as United navigate a congested February fixture list.
In contrast, the outlook for Patrick Dorgu and Matthijs de Ligt remains long-term. Dorgu faces weeks sidelined with a serious hamstring injury, while De Ligt continues recovery from a persistent back issue.
Carrick noted: “Matta is working his way back, taking good steps, improving and being really positive. Hopefully won’t be too long.” Both players are unlikely to return before April.
