England midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek faces months on the sidelines and a race to be fit for the 2026 World Cup after suffering a fractured jaw during AC Milan’s defeat to Parma.
England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set for surgery after suffering a fractured jaw during AC Milan’s Serie A match against Parma on Sunday.
The midfielder was stretchered off following a collision with keeper Edoardo Corvi just ten minutes into the game.
Italian reports state: “In addition to broken upper teeth and two cuts, the Englishman suffered a fractured alveolar bone,” leaving his career momentum stalled.
The 30-year-old now faces a race against time to secure a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad.
With the tournament less than four months away, the timing is disastrous for his international ambitions.
Sky Sports Italia noted that Loftus-Cheek “will undergo surgery on Monday… and is expected to be out for several months,” likely ruling him out of upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
