Mohamed Salah injury update as Arne Slot confirms Liverpool latest before Brighton

Mohamed Salah has been ruled out of this weekend’s Premier League match against Brighton and Egypt’s upcoming international fixtures after suffering a rare injury during midweek Champions League action.

Arne Slot confirmed on Friday that Mohamed Salah will be unavailable for the trip to Brighton following his second-half substitution against Galatasaray.

Despite missing a penalty, Salah reached 50 Champions League goals for the club before picking up the injury.

Slot praised his resilience, stating: “That tells you about the mental strength of him, but definitely also of the team because adversity is something we can talk about.”

The injury creates a significant void in Liverpool’s new-look system, which recently featured Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitiké in a more fluid attack.

Slot noted that while tactics are helpful, the team’s high work rate remains the priority during this injury-hit period.

“Unfortunately, we’ve played this tactic before… but usually this season then we’ve got a player injured, we couldn’t do it again,” Slot added.
