Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has identified Bayern Munich star Michael Olise as the ideal candidate to replace Mohamed Salah following the Egyptian’s confirmed summer departure.
Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard has identified Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as the “dream” candidate to succeed Mohamed Salah at Anfield this summer.
With Salah officially confirming his departure after nine trophy-laden years, Gerrard believes the Frenchman is one of the few players capable of replicating the Egyptian’s prolific output.
Speaking on the challenge of replacing a legend, Gerrard noted, “Olise would be one, I would say, but I don’t think he’d be available.”
Despite Gerrard’s endorsement, any move for Olise appears unlikely following a stern rebuttal from Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness.
Hoeness dismissed reports of a €200 million deal, taking a swipe at Liverpool’s recent spending and league form.
He stated, “Liverpool spent 500 million euros this year and are having a very bad season. So we won’t be contributing to them playing better next year.” Olise remains central to Bayern’s long-term plans.
