Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has called for the Premier League to assist English clubs in Europe by postponing domestic fixtures, following Paris Saint-Germain’s week-long preparation for their upcoming quarter-final return leg.
Ibrahima Konate has challenged the Premier League to emulate Ligue 1 by rescheduling league games for clubs competing in the Champions League.
Following Liverpool’s 2-0 loss in Paris, Konate noted that PSG’s domestic match was postponed to aid their European campaign.
Speaking to Stan Sport, he remarked, “Last season, it was the same. I wish we had the same thing in the Premier League.”
While PSG enjoys a break before Tuesday’s second leg, Liverpool must face Fulham this Saturday. Konate expressed his desire for English football authorities to reconsider their rigid scheduling to improve the chances of Premier League teams.
The French international added, “I’m hoping the Premier League are doing to do the same in the future or, why not, this season.”
