Premier League eyes history as 11 of its teams teams could be in Europe next season

The Premier League is set for record representation in continental competitions next season after securing a fifth Champions League berth, even as heavyweights Manchester City and Chelsea struggle in current European campaigns.

English clubs face a mixed European season, with Arsenal remaining the primary Champions League hope following Manchester City’s exit to Real Madrid.

While Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest pursue Europa League glory, a “remarkable comeback” is required for Liverpool to progress against Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite these on-field struggles, the Premier League’s high coefficient has guaranteed an additional European Performance Spot for the upcoming 2026/27 cycle.

The division could see an unprecedented eleven teams across three competitions next year after Arsenal’s victory over Sporting confirmed a fifth automatic Champions League slot.

This marks the second consecutive season England has benefited from the extra position.

While Tottenham Hotspur previously earned their place by winning the Europa League, the current league phase is set to be heavily populated by English representatives once again.
