Mikel Arteta has revealed the emotional moment he discovered Arsenal were Premier League champions.

The Spaniard admitted he couldn’t watch the decisive match and instead stepped outside to make barbecue while nervously listening for reactions indoors.

Then came the unforgettable moment.

“I could hear noises from inside, then my son opened the door, ran towards me. He was crying and he said, ‘we are champions daddy.’”

Arteta called the moment “one of the best feelings” of his life as Arsenal ended their 22-year title drought.
