The 79-year-old Real Madrid president has been re-elected with 65% of the vote, beating sole challenger Enrique Riquelme — a 37-year-old renewable energy entrepreneur — in the club’s first contested election in 20 years. The vote came after two straight trophy-less seasons and Perez’s own dramatic May press conference, where he warned of enemies “in the shadows” plotting his removal.
