Introduced after Thibaut Courtois suffered a thigh injury, Lammens spilled Pau Cubarsi’s shot in the closing minutes, allowing Mikel Merino to score the winner.
The club responded on social media with the message: “Head up, Senne. We’re all with you.”
Courtois also defended his teammate, insisting such moments are part of football and predicting a bright future for the 24-year-old.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Lammens has impressed since joining United from Royal Antwerp, earning Belgium caps while establishing himself under Ruben Amorim.
Spain’s victory secured a World Cup semi-final place, while Belgium exited despite a resilient display after losing Courtois to injury.
