Man Utd lose chunk of Greenwood windfall despite sell-on clause

Manchester United will receive roughly £13 million from Mason Greenwood’s £33 million move to Fenerbahce via a sell-on clause, though a fifth of the fee is owed separately to Getafe.

Mason Greenwood has completed a permanent move from Marseille to Fenerbahce in a deal worth around £33 million, signing a four-year contract until 2030 according to EXPRESS.

Manchester United stand to collect roughly £13 million thanks to a 40 percent sell-on clause included when Greenwood joined Marseille in 2024 — welcome income after United spent a combined £85 million on Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer.

However, a sizeable portion of that fee won’t stay at Old Trafford. Getafe are owed 20 percent of the transfer sum under an arrangement struck when Greenwood joined the Spanish club following his 2022 arrest, later dropped, on serious allegations he denied.

As an academy graduate, any proceeds United receive will count as pure profit under Premier League financial rules.
