Norway set to file FIFA complaint over Balogun ban reversal

The Norwegian Football Federation plans to submit a formal complaint to FIFA over the handling of Folarin Balogun’s suspended World Cup ban.

The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) is preparing to lodge a formal complaint with FIFA over the controversial suspension of Folarin Balogun’s World Cup red-card ban.

According to The Athletic, NFF president Lise Klaveness said the federation will raise the issue with its board before formally submitting the complaint. She argued the decision appeared to be influenced by external forces and warned it undermined football’s disciplinary process.

Balogun was sent off against Bosnia and Herzegovina but was later cleared to face Belgium after FIFA suspended his ban.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed he asked FIFA president Gianni Infantino to review the decision, while Infantino maintained FIFA’s judicial bodies acted independently and denied any political interference.
