Zinedine Zidane has officially been unveiled as France’s new head coach on a four-year contract, succeeding Didier Deschamps.
France have officially appointed Zinedine Zidane as the new head coach of the national team, ending months of speculation over Didier Deschamps’ successor.
The French Football Federation unveiled the former Real Madrid manager on Tuesday, with federation president Philippe Diallo confirming Zidane will begin his role on August 1 after signing a four-year contract.
Speaking at his presentation, Zidane described leading Les Bleus as a “joy” and an “enormous source of pride.”
According to GOAL, Zidane now takes charge with the 2028 European Championship and the 2030 FIFA World Cup as his major targets. The France legend enjoyed a glittering international playing career, winning the 1998 World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000 before finishing runner-up at the 2006 World Cup.
He replaces Deschamps, who stepped down after 14 years in charge following France’s fourth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup.
