Mason Mount reaffirmed Manchester United’s full support for manager Ruben Amorim after scoring in the club’s vital 2-0 win over Sunderland to ease pressure on the under-fire coach.
Mason Mount has declared Manchester United are “100% behind” manager Ruben Amorim after their 2-0 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford. The midfielder, who has struggled with injuries since joining from Chelsea, marked his return to the starting lineup by scoring his first Premier League goal for United at home. “It was an exciting game, we enjoyed it,” Mount said. “The result was the most important thing.”
He also praised Benjamin Sesko and debutant Senne Lammens for their performances. Reports had suggested Amorim could be sacked if United lost, but the win — their third consecutive home victory — has eased pressure on the Portuguese boss.
Mount said the squad is focused on building momentum: “We’ve had results that hurt us… but that was important today. It starts now, and we’ll be working hard over the break. We want back-to-back wins and to push for the top four.”
