Barcelona coach Hansi Flick defended his tactical approach after a 4-1 defeat to Sevilla, insisting mistakes—not his system—caused the loss.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has defended his tactical system after a 4-1 defeat to Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday. The result marked Barca’s first league loss of the season, coming just days after their Champions League defeat to PSG. Former Barcelona star Thierry Henry criticized the team for being “too open,” but Flick rejected that claim. “I don’t think it’s a problem with the system or the strategy.
We’ve made big mistakes,” he said. The coach praised his players’ second-half reaction and urged them to channel their frustration into improvement after the international break. “We lost, we accept that. But we’ll be back. We have to maintain this energy and anger for the rest of the season,” he added.
Flick said the break would allow injured players to recover and others to rest before their next La Liga match against Girona. “When they return, we’ll work hard to get back to our level,” he stated.
