Red Card for Covered Mouth!
Almiron Makes History!
Paraguay’s Miguel Almiron, 32, made World Cup history in San Francisco, becoming the first player sent off for covering his mouth while speaking to an opponent. During the match against Turkey, Almiron obscured his mouth, leading to Turkey’s Mert Muldur alerting an official. VAR confirmed the red card for the former Newcastle United winger. Paraguay won 1-0.
