Alvaro Arbeloa tells Alexander-Arnold to find new club

Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa has reportedly deemed Trent Alexander-Arnold surplus to requirements only seven months after his arrival from Liverpool, citing poor form and fitness issues.

Newly-appointed Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa has reportedly informed Trent Alexander-Arnold that he is free to leave the club just seven months after his high-profile move from Liverpool.

The 27-year-old England international has struggled to adapt to life in La Liga, making only 16 appearances during a debut season plagued by hamstring and muscle injuries, alongside the tactical instability that followed Xabi Alonso’s dismissal.

Arbeloa, who stepped up from the club’s B team to replace Alonso earlier this month, allegedly held a frank discussion with the right-back to explain that he does not figure in the team’s long-term sporting strategy.

While former manager Alonso previously defended the defender, stating, “Trent is a top player, and we need him… this adjustment period is normal,” the club’s hierarchy is said to be unimpressed with his defensive work rate and lack of offensive output.

With Alexander-Arnold’s entourage already exploring potential destinations for the summer transfer window, the £10 million signing faces an uncertain future and a battle to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
