Arsenal are set to welcome back Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie for their match against Manchester United, potentially leaving the Gunners with a nearly fully fit squad for the title run-in.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has received a significant double injury boost ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes Premier League encounter with Manchester United, as defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie both returned to first-team training on Friday.
Calafiori, who has been sidelined with a muscle injury since late December, and Hincapie, who limped out of a recent draw with Liverpool, were both spotted at London Colney and could be in contention to face Michael Carrick’s resurgent side if they navigate Saturday’s final session without issue.
With Cristhian Mosquera already back from an ankle problem, the Gunners are approaching near-total full strength, leaving only teenage prospect Max Dowman as a confirmed absentee.
The timing is vital for the league leaders, who are looking to bounce back from a frustrating goalless draw against Nottingham Forest and protect their seven-point lead at the summit of the table.
Despite the positive visuals from the training ground, Arteta remained characteristically cautious during his pre-match press conference, telling reporters, “We still have another training session, so we will see tomorrow after that… After Inter we have no issues.”
