Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed satisfaction with securing a crucial three points in the 3-1 victory over Elche but admitted his side must improve their efficiency in front of goal.
The German coach opened his post-match press conference by stating the priority: “The most important thing is the three points.”
However, he quickly focused on missed opportunities, noting: “I think we created a lot of chances and didn’t convert them all. If we had made better use of our chances, we would have ended up winning 6-2.”
Flick singled out several players for praise. Midfielder Frenkie de Jong was lauded for his consistent impact, with the manager commenting: “Frenkie is at an incredible level. His performance is great in every match.”
The coach also acknowledged the role of Fermín Lopez, who provided two assists, noting: “He has good momentum and has been involved in chances and goals.”
Match-winner Marcus Rashford, who scored the third goal, also earned Flick’s approval: “I’m happy with him, I know he can play at this level and he has proven that. He’s an important player.”
Defensively, Eric Garcia was highlighted for significant progress, with Flick saying: “He has taken a fantastic step forward… It’s great working with him.”
Providing injury updates, Flick took a cautious tone on Lamine Yamal, who is managing a groin problem: “He has to manage his injury at the moment… I can’t say that the injury is over.
It’s going well, but it has to be managed.” He also confirmed that recovering goalkeeper Joan García is “progressing very well,” and expected to return after the international break.
