Harry Kane’s post-Mexico interview has instantly entered into national legend
Speaking to the BBC’s Kelly Somers on the pitch after joining his teammates serenading fans with Oasis classic ‘Wonderwall’, Kane’s voice repeatedly cracked and squeaked as he admitted “I can’t even talk”.
Back in the studio, the panel were delighted at the occurrence, with host Kelly Cates describing it as an interview that would “go down in history” and pundit Wayne Rooney calling it “the best interview I’ve ever seen”.
“It was a crazy game. We had to fight and we had to find something. I’ve just been singing, I can’t really talk. The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way.”
He ended the interview by saying: “I’m speechless, I can’t really talk.” Kane walked off holding his throat and his knighthood assured.
