Barcelona President Joan Laporta has publicly accused agent Ivan de la Pena of hypocrisy and deceit after youth prospect Dro Fernandez completed a controversial €8 million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Joan Laporta has launched a scathing attack on Ivan de la Pena, the representative of teenage star Dro Fernandez, following the player’s move to PSG.
The Barcelona president claims the club was bypassed despite efforts to integrate the youngster into Hansi Flick’s first team.
“Dro’s departure was a real betrayal,” Laporta told Jijantes. “I feel bad because I felt betrayed by Ivan de la Pena.”
The €8 million transfer has caused significant friction at La Masia, with officials alleging a verbal agreement was ignored.
Manager Hansi Flick also shared his disappointment, suggesting outside influences swayed the 18-year-old away from Catalonia.
Laporta added that the agent’s actions were particularly painful given his history with the club: “He showed us his hypocrisy. We made an exception, and he did something very bad.”
