New Portugal boss Jesus vows to keep picking Ronaldo

New Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus has said he will continue calling up Cristiano Ronaldo if the veteran forward remains available and fit.

Jesus, appointed Friday following Portugal’s World Cup last-16 exit to Spain, insisted Ronaldo’s future remains open.

“As long as he’s playing and is in a condition to be selected, I will pick him,” Jesus told reporters, per Vanguard News, adding that Ronaldo is “never going to be a problem” for the team.

Having coached Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, Jesus said the pair hadn’t yet discussed his international future but would soon.

Ronaldo, who called the World Cup his last, has not confirmed a decision on his Portugal career. Jesus will lead the side through the 2030 World Cup.
