Manchester United Women came from behind to defeat Everton 4-1, with Malard scoring and Park netting twice to keep the Reds in title contention.
Manchester United Women produced a dominant second-half display to beat Everton 4-1 in Sunday’s Women’s Super League clash at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The hosts struck first in the 16th minute when Honoka Hayashi fired home from close range after goalkeeper Phallon Tullis Joyce failed to clear a corner properly. But that was Everton’s only shot on target until stoppage time as United took control of the match.
Melvine Malard, who had threatened throughout, equalised early in the second half after her first effort was parried, finishing calmly on the rebound from Hinata Miyazawa’s assist. The Reds quickly took the lead minutes later when a deflected cross bounced awkwardly into the path of defender Hikaru Kitagawa, whose attempted clearance ended up in her own net.
Jess Park then sealed the win with two late goals against her former club. The first came from a fortunate bounce, while her second — a powerful strike into the bottom corner after a neat pass from Ella Toone — showcased her quality.
United’s victory extends their unbeaten run and moves them to third in the WSL table, two points ahead of Tottenham and two behind leaders Chelsea.
