Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Fulham highlights deep-seated issues, including player discord, fan frustration, and tactical questions, as the team struggles under manager Thomas Frank.
According to a report from Football.London, frustration boiled over among the Tottenham Hotspur squad immediately after their 2-1 home defeat to Fulham on Saturday night.
The loss meant Spurs have now won just three of their past 21 home league matches, and the team set a record for the earliest they have ever conceded two goals in a Premier League home match, going 2-0 down within six minutes.
In the chaotic aftermath, defender Pedro Porro went down the tunnel but reappeared moments later to march across the pitch, shouting something at teammate Lucas Bergvall, seemingly telling him not to applaud the fans, before storming back down the tunnel, whipping his shirt off.
The young Swedish international had looked to be thinking about acknowledging the big south stand but “saw Vicario and decided otherwise.”
Porro himself struggled during the match, with only three of his 16 crosses finding their target, despite Bergvall achieving the highest pass success rate on the pitch with 97%.
Manager Thomas Frank later addressed the hostility from the stands, which included boos for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, stating:
“I didn’t like how the fans reacted to that… For me that is unacceptable. They can’t be true Tottenham fans.”
Vicario, who claimed “I take full responsibility for the second goal we conceded,” also commented, “It’s part of football, so I am a big man, I am quite older. We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands.”
