Jarell Quansah has been suspended for two World Cup matches following his red card against Mexico, ruling him out of England’s quarterfinal against Norway and a potential semi-final.
England’s right-back injury crisis just got worse. Quansah, sent off in the 54th minute against Mexico for a high tackle, will now miss Saturday’s quarterfinal in Miami and the semi-final should England advance, according to ESPN.
It leaves Thomas Tuchel light at right-back, with Reece James still nursing hamstring trouble. Tuchel also voiced frustration over FIFA’s decision to overturn Folarin Balogun’s ban following Donald Trump’s intervention, asking:
“Where does this start and where does this end now?… Where to draw the line is the question that I ask. I have no answer to that.”
