Arne Slot is counting on Mohamed Salah to regain his form and inspire Liverpool when Manchester United visit Anfield on Sunday
Liverpool manager Arne Slot hopes Mohamed Salah can rediscover his best form when Manchester United visit Anfield on Sunday. The Egyptian forward, who scored twice to secure Egypt’s 2026 World Cup spot last week, has struggled for consistency in an unsettled Liverpool side.
Slot admitted the team’s performances have suffered amid summer changes and the emotional loss of Diogo Jota. “We haven’t had as many acts of brilliance and we haven’t scored from set pieces,” Slot said. Salah’s goal and assist tally has dropped by half compared with last season, though his chance creation remains among Europe’s best.
The 33-year-old has scored a record 16 goals in 17 appearances against United, who have not won at Anfield in nine years. “If Salah makes the difference, the conversation changes,” Slot added. The Dutch coach needs his talisman to return to centre stage for Liverpool’s title defence to regain momentum.
