Senegal dismisses Manager Pape Thiaw post-World Cup

Senegal’s football federation has sacked manager Pape Thiaw after a dramatic last-32 exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Senegal have pulled the trigger on Pape Thiaw, sacking their manager just hours after the team’s World Cup dream collapsed.

According to the BBC, the Teranga Lions squandered a 2-0 lead against Belgium, conceding twice late and again in extra time before falling 3-2.

The Senegal Football Federation confirmed the decision, citing a “thorough evaluation” of results and prospects.

Thiaw, in charge since December 2024, had already been under fire after Senegal’s controversial AFCON final walk-off in January cost them that title. Midfielder Pape Gueye had vowed to step away from the squad until the coaching staff changed.
