Southampton owner Dragan Solak will not sack head coach Tonda Eckert following a spying scandal. Solak stated Eckert “deserves a second chance” and is a “super-talented manager.” The club was expelled from the play-offs and deducted points for observing rivals’ training sessions. Solak believes Eckert was unaware of the rules and similar practices are common elsewhere. He issued a warning but remains supportive, though he cannot allow Eckert to manage if banned by the FA. Solak also called the club’s punishment disproportionate and criticized diving in matches.
