Paris Saint-Germain may already have a huge advantage before a ball is even kicked in Saturday’s Champions League final against Arsenal — fresher legs.
According to a BBC Sport report, Arsenal players have logged almost 7,000 more league minutes than their PSG rivals this season, raising questions about fatigue ahead of the blockbuster clash at Budapest’s Puskas Arena.
Mikel Arteta’s side are heading into their 63rd game of the campaign, while PSG are on 56 matches. The difference? PSG boss Luis Enrique has rotated heavily all season, regularly resting stars in Ligue 1 while keeping them fresh for Europe.
Club captain Marquinhos barely featured in league matches for over two months but played every minute of PSG’s Champions League knockout run. Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele completed a full 90 minutes in Ligue 1 only once all season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s key men like Declan Rice, William Saliba and David Raya have carried huge workloads in the relentless Premier League campaign.
PSG also arrive better rested, with 13 days between their last league match and the final. Arsenal will have only six.
Still, momentum is firmly with the Gunners after finally ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
