Japan have dropped Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma from their 2026 World Cup squad after a hamstring injury. The 28-year-old will also miss Brighton’s final Premier League games. Coach Hajime Moriyasu called Mitoma “a major presence” and admitted the setback would “hurt him more than it hurts anyone.” Japan open their campaign against the Netherlands on 14 June.
