Patrick Vieira has emerged as the leading candidate to become Senegal’s new head coach following Pape Thiaw’s dismissal after the team’s World Cup Round of 32 exit.
Senegal’s search for a new head coach already has a leading candidate: Patrick Vieira according to Beinsports.
The Dakar-born former France international is reportedly the top choice to replace Pape Thiaw, who was dismissed after Senegal’s Round of 32 exit at the 2026 World Cup, a disappointing end despite the Lions of Teranga’s AFCON triumph months earlier.
Vieira, a 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 winner with France, built his playing career at Arsenal, Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester City, AC Milan, and AS Cannes.
As a coach, he’s led New York City FC, Nice, Crystal Palace, Strasbourg, and Genoa.Whoever takes charge inherits a squad seeking unity ahead of September’s AFCON qualifiers.
