Arsenal have intensified their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes, with negotiations over a transfer fee progressing despite Newcastle denying formal contact.
Arsenal are in advanced discussions with Newcastle United over a move for captain Bruno Guimaraes, with progress made on a verbal agreement worth more than £75 million, according to talkSPORT.
The report adds that the Gunners have already agreed personal terms with the Brazil international and are keen to finalize a deal before the transfer window moves into its final stages.
Newcastle insist no formal bid has been received, although Arsenal sources claim three verbal offers have already been made through intermediaries.
Manager Eddie Howe admitted he is uncertain about Guimaraes’ future but confirmed the midfielder is due back for pre-season on July 31. Newcastle are also prepared to offer the 28-year-old a new contract if he remains at St James’ Park.
