Bruno GuimarĂ£es has postponed joining Newcastle United’s pre-season camp as Arsenal step up efforts to sign the Brazilian midfielder.
Bruno GuimarĂ£es will not travel with Newcastle United for the opening of their pre-season camp in Spain, fuelling speculation over his future as Arsenal push to complete a move for the Brazil international.
According to Coming Home Newcastle, citing Chronicle Live’s Lee Ryder, the Magpies captain is now expected to join the squad in La Manga on Sunday instead of Friday.
Newcastle maintain the change is linked to GuimarĂ£es’ post-World Cup fitness programme rather than transfer talks. However, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel and Ben Jacobs report Arsenal are increasingly confident of agreeing a deal worth more than £75 million.
GuimarĂ£es is expected to hold talks with new head coach Matthias Jaissle before any decision on his future is finalised.
