Brazilian Football introduces groundbreaking punishment for reckless tackles

Brazilian football has introduced a groundbreaking punishment, suspending Inter defender Victor Gabriel until his injured opponent is fit to return.

In Brazil, one Victor Gabriel has been suspended after a reckless foul on Gabriel Pec.

Suspended for how long?

He will only return once the injury player has fully recovered, a punishment that could see him miss up to 6 months.

Following a reckless tackle that fractured Cruzeiro forward Gabriel Pec’s tibia, the sports court ruled Gabriel cannot play again until Pec is medically cleared, capped at a maximum 180-day suspension.

Judges argued the standard one-to-six match ban was insufficient for such a severe injury, setting a striking new precedent in player accountability.
