Chelsea escape points deduction, fined £10m over rule breaches

Chelsea have been fined £10million and handed a suspended transfer ban after an FA investigation into 74 alleged rule breaches, with an earlier points deduction thrown out on appeal.

Chelsea have avoided a points deduction but must pay a £10million fine following an FA investigation into 74 alleged breaches of agent and third-party investment regulations, according to The Athletic.

An independent commission initially imposed a suspended six-point deduction, but this was overturned on appeal, replaced instead with a suspended two-window transfer ban.

The breaches span 2009 to 2022, mostly during Roman Abramovich’s ownership. Chelsea self-reported the issues in 2022 and say the FA case now closes all outstanding regulatory matters, following earlier settlements with UEFA and the Premier League over the same historical breaches.
