Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has admitted that contract negotiations with Konrad Laimer have reached a standstill, with the Austrian demanding a significant pay rise to approximately €15 million per year, well above the club’s offer.
“There are two points of view that currently do not match each other. We want to extend with Konni, that is a fact. Now we have to somehow find a bridge regarding the expectations,” Eberl told Sky on the sidelines of Bayern’s fixture against Wolfsburg.
Honorary president Uli Hoeness issued a stern warning about financial limits, telling DAZN: “Konny is a player I value very much… but he is just not Maradona. And such players must accept that there are limits”.
However, former Bayern star Toni Kroos defended Laimer on his podcast, arguing: “He is important for the team… you shouldn’t underestimate the value of paying an extra euro to players who don’t score 40 goals”. Eberl insisted “there is zero bad blood” despite the impasse
